Your First Visit

Initial visits usually take approximately 45 minutes. You will be asked to complete a comprehensive medical questionnaire, and then undergo a complete head and neck examination, with special attention to facial movement. Digital still photographs and a video clip will be taken to record facial function. Some patients may be referred to Audiology and/or Radiology for further evaluation and testing; this could take additional time.

After your initial visit, all of the data will be gathered and reviewed by members of the facial nerve medical team. A comprehensive letter, accompanied by photographs, will be sent to you with treatment recommendations. These may include physical therapy, chemodenervation treatment (Botox®), and perhaps surgical intervention.
